Jalopy is a simulation game that follows two players, the player himself known only as Splatand the uncle Lutfi. You have to build a car namely, Laika after the Trabant 601 from individual parts and drive it from East Berlin to Turkey. The game starts off when the two Eastern Berlin decided to go on a road trip to Istanbul since the Iron Curtain Fall. Your main task is to drop off the uncle to Istanbul whilst also maintaining the car which is prone to the significant breakdowns. In your journey, you will pass through Germany, Hungary, Bulgaria, and Turkey on a road trip with your uncle.
The cities where you will pass from contain all the shops essential for maintaining the car. You can also upgrade your car if you have enough money. When your uncle fell asleep, you can open his briefcase and collect notes that will highlight the backstory. You and your uncle have been separated from the rest of the family for 30 years because the uncle was with you when you are a baby meanwhile the Berlin Wall was erected. The uncle is trying to contact with the family. Both of your parents have died before the fall of the wall. The game will never end. You can reset the game from the beginning and can do the same thing over and over again. However, the uncle is absent for the entirely of the game.
